Parkland Secondary School – Peers and Pies

Students in Parkland Secondary’s Peer Helping Class are once again, raising support and dollars to continue funding education for Lewis Githinji Njorogo in Nairobi.  Their most recent Spirit Assembly in May included a pie-throwing contest where students purchased tickets for the chance to throw a pie at a teacher.  EHA BC is grateful for the continued connection between students on Vancouver Island and our students in Kenya and is honoured to be associated with Parkland!

Immediate Need for New Sponsor

EHA in BC has an immediate need for a sponsor for Eugene. He is 16 years old and in grade 9. Eugene is very bright, and motivated to do well in secondary school. He said to his previous sponsor, “I will not let you down. During my December break, I will teach my little sister how to read and pray”. If you wish to sponsor Eugene, write Bill German at wbgerman@telus.net. The cost to sponsor Eugene for 2015 is $ 1000. This payment covers tuition in a boarding school, room and board, a uniform, and an allowance for personal effects. Thanks for considering this urgent matter.

Parkland Secondary School – Students Helping Students

For several years, Parkland Secondary on the Sannich Peninsula has supported EHA BC by sponsoring a student. Work began in 2010, through the efforts of the Parkland Interact Club and the Student Council, and Kenyan student, Lewis Githinji Njorogo, began school with an initial two year commitment. With activities and events held to raise additional funds, Parkland was able to secure four years of tuition for Lewis, fondly referred to as their Kenyan Panther, and the hope is to extend beyond that with future fundraising efforts.
